It’s our favorite day of the year (we feel like it was created just for us!).
Is one day a year enough though? No. Your computer should be clean all year round, which is why we developed a tool to do it for you. My team helps people with all sorts of queries about CCleaner, so I know it inside out!
You might not realize that every time you use your computer it accumulates junk files, data and settings which clog it up and stop it from running at its best. Many people think that when their computer slows it’s due to its age and after two or three years it’ll automatically become redundant, but that’s not always the case. Unless you’ve upgraded, the hardware inside - which is what largely dictates your computer's performance - is the same as the day you bought it, so a quick clean might be all that’s needed to get it up to speed again. To maintain good performance, most computers just need to be cleaned once a week or so. Sounds simple, but it’s true. That’s why, over 14 years ago, we built CCleaner.
CCleaner safely deletes the junk which is stopping your computer from running at peak performance, frees up valuable space and helps keep your online browsing private. As well as cleaning, it acts as a PC management platform by allowing you to manage startup items, control browser plugins and quickly uninstall programs - all from one dashboard.
Here’s how to give it a try:
1. Download and install
You can choose between CCleaner Free or CCleaner Professional (to get automatic cleaning and some other additional features). If you've chosen CCleaner Professional, enter your license key found on your email confirmation to unlock your pro features.
2. Click ‘Analyze’ to see a list of files which need cleaning
We recommend you initially run a default clean, but you can tick and untick the boxes in the left tab to adjust what will be cleaned if you wish.
3. Click ‘Run Cleaner’ to start cleaning
On your first clean, it might take a minute or so for CCleaner to safely erase your machine's junk build up. Future cleans will be much quicker!
4. Keep up the good work!
If you're using CCleaner Free, remember to repeat this next week (when it should only take a few seconds). Or, if you’d rather your machine be kept clean automatically, you can upgrade to CCleaner Professional to enable scheduled cleaning (which is found in ‘Options’ and then ‘Scheduling’ or ‘Monitoring’). Once set, CCleaner will keep your machine clean without you having to do a thing.
All in all, that should take less than five minutes!
We hope you enjoy today as much as us! If you have any comments please tweet us. We're @Piriform.
