Something really exciting happened at Piriform this month. We moved into a shiny new London headquarters.
Huge expansion means we’ve grown out of eight office spaces in 12 years. Yes, eight! So what’s so special about this one?
Firstly, it’s beautiful (our office manager along with design company Oktra Reach did a great interior decoration job) and secondly, it’s spacious. Our previous 8 offices didn’t really offer us an opportunity to grow so it was high time we looked to the future and set up camp in a space with room for expansion.
As VP of Operations, this move for me is more important than any of the previous eight. Aesthetics aside, it will allow us to work better together.
Many moons ago, and for some companies even now, an office is where you were expected to be every day. You turn up, do your 9-5 and then go home. That’s no longer the case.
As a company which champions flexible working and strives to attract and retain the world’s best talent – no matter where they are based – we need to provide a space where people want to work and which makes connecting to employees around the world easy. We have a number of very talented employees who work flexibly from their homes both within the UK and around the world and we want it to stay that way. Employee experience is big on our agenda.
Historically, our workspaces met our functional needs just fine, but we didn’t want just fine. For the first time ever we designed our office from an entirely blank canvas, so we had the opportunity to create an environment which operates as good as it looks.
Our office space has now doubled in size. We have more much-needed meeting space with better AV and conferencing setup, more sofa space for informal catch-ups, to chill out or hold work events and a much bigger kitchen and eating space. It’s big, bright, comfortable and it works.
We’ll be looking for friendly new faces to fill our office space this year so if you have a passion for high quality software like we do, get in touch.
